An immersive 3-day workshop to guide students through visual concepts in portrait painting.
Where and When:
Friday October 14th- Sunday October 16th, 2016. 9:30AM - 4:30 PM.
Bide-a-While Bed and Breakfast, 1705 Oleander Drive, Dickinson TX 77539.
On the first morning we will explore the planes of the head from a live model. The emphasis will be on simplifying the planes of the head and learning to see accurate values and color relationships. In the afternoon, by way of another demonstration, you will begin to understand the approach to portrait painting.
Day two and three will be devoted to painting a studio portrait from life. I will do demonstrations from a life model all mornings while teaching key visual concepts including light and shadow, low key and high key, limited value, dark and light pattern, graphic and atmospheric portraits.
Students can watch or paint along during the morning demonstrations. I will provide personalized critiques during the afternoon sessions.
Workshop Fee: $700 (Includes breakfast, lunch and model fee.)
